Being vulnerable with our partners, coming forward with our flaws, our weaknesses and our fears, can be one of the hardest things to do in a relationship, and for good reason. We are essentially exposing ourselves in a way that we don’t do very often, and with a lot of perceived risk.
That said, being able to do this with each other is integral to a much more healthy, intimate and strong union. You and your partner are a team that supports, understands and champions each other in the roller coaster of life, helping each other become better together while respecting your individual parts.
But without trusting our whole selves to each other, and cultivating a safe environment for each other to express our whole selves, we cannot truly be the super power couple we’d like to be. Sharing our greatest weaknesses can be one of our greatest strengths.
Today’s video is a humorous take on that. It highlights that even “Superman” has vulnerabilities he needs to share. As with every episode of the Superhero Soap Opera, the outrageous specific circumstances will be different to you and your partner, but the lesson is the same – regardless of whether we wear our underwear on the inside of our pants.
So I hope this video makes you think, as well as laugh a little too.
Have a great week!
Questions for you and your partner:
1.) How do you think Diana and Clark handled this discussion?
2.) Have you ever had a similar “discussion” with your partner?
3.) In what way is their relationship similar or different to yours?
